Data Policy
Last Updated: April 2025
This Data Policy explains how OPTIKA AI Smart Glasses, developed by TellsNext LLC, handle data collected through the device. This policy covers the types of data the glasses may process, where that processing occurs, how long data is retained, and the control you have over your information.
1. Types of Data Collected
OPTIKA glasses are designed to process several categories of data to deliver their AI-powered features:
- Visual Data: Images and video frames captured by the onboard cameras for scene analysis, object recognition, and environmental understanding
- Audio Data: Sound captured by built-in microphones for voice commands, ambient awareness, and communication features
- Biometric Data: Physiological indicators such as eye tracking patterns, gaze direction, and head movement data used for interface control and user experience optimization
- Behavioral Data: Usage patterns, feature interaction data, navigation preferences, and activity context used to personalize the device experience
- Environmental Data: Location information, ambient light levels, spatial mapping data, and surrounding environment characteristics
2. On-Device vs Cloud Processing
OPTIKA is designed with a privacy-first architecture that prioritizes on-device processing:
- On-Device Processing: The majority of real-time AI analysis, including emotion detection, scene recognition, and behavioral intelligence, is performed locally on the device's dedicated neural processing unit. Raw visual and audio data is processed in real-time and is not transmitted to external servers by default.
- Cloud Processing: Certain advanced features that require greater computational resources may utilize secure cloud processing. In such cases, data is encrypted in transit and at rest. Users will be clearly notified when cloud processing is required and will have the option to enable or disable it.
3. Data Retention Periods
We adhere to strict data retention policies designed to minimize the amount of data stored:
- Real-Time Processing Data: Visual and audio data processed on-device for real-time analysis is processed in memory and is not persistently stored unless the user explicitly saves it
- Usage Analytics: Aggregated, anonymized usage statistics may be retained for up to 12 months to improve product performance
- User-Saved Content: Any data you choose to save (photos, recordings, notes) is retained until you delete it
- Account Data: Account information is retained for the duration of your account and deleted within 90 days of account closure
4. User Control Over Data
You maintain full control over the data your OPTIKA glasses collect:
- Toggle individual sensors (camera, microphone, biometric sensors) on or off at any time
- View and delete locally stored data through the companion app
- Choose which features use cloud processing and which remain on-device only
- Export all your data in standard formats for portability
- Perform a complete data wipe of the device at any time
- Set automatic data deletion schedules for different data categories
5. Anonymization Practices
When data is used for analytics or product improvement purposes, TellsNext LLC applies rigorous anonymization techniques:
- All personally identifiable information is stripped from analytics data before processing
- Facial data from third parties captured incidentally by the device cameras is never stored or transmitted
- Aggregation techniques ensure that individual users cannot be identified from analytical datasets
- Differential privacy methods are employed to add mathematical guarantees against re-identification
6. AI Model Training
TellsNext LLC is committed to responsible AI development:
- Your personal data is never used to train AI models without your explicit consent
- AI models embedded in OPTIKA are trained on licensed, ethically sourced datasets that do not contain personal user data
- On-device model improvements use federated learning techniques where only model updates (not raw data) may be shared, and only with user consent
- All training datasets undergo bias auditing and fairness testing before deployment
7. Third-Party Access
Third-party applications that integrate with OPTIKA must comply with our strict data handling guidelines. Users must explicitly grant permissions to any third-party app before it can access device data. TellsNext LLC regularly audits third-party compliance and reserves the right to revoke access for non-compliant applications.
8. Changes to This Policy
As OPTIKA continues development, this Data Policy may be updated to reflect new features and capabilities. Significant changes will be communicated to registered users via email and posted on this website.
